  Key silvicultural techniques:
The young grafted plant stocks transplanted in 5 years at a spacing of 80 × 80㎝. The best transplanting period is autumn. In order to promote the growth of grafted plant stocks, 1-2 applications of 30-40㎏/mu compound fertilizer during June and July and followed by watering. Irrigations applied in March for new growth and in early November for wintering. 2-3 irrigations applied as necessary during the dry season according to rainfall condition.

  Man Tian Hong

Species: Peach

Scientific name: Amygdalus persica ‘Man tian hong’

Type: Variety

Category of certification: Certified

Registration number: Guo S-SV-AP-010-2011

  Variety characteristics:
The variety is for flower appreciation, with moderate tree vigor. Fruit baring branches are thick. Flower is rose-like, flower bud is fresh red, and petal is rose-red. Flower size is 4.4 cm in diameter, with 22-26 petals in 4-6 layers, about 45 pink filaments and 2-5 petal-form stamens. Anthers are red orange in color and contain pollen. Flower bud appears from April 1st, initial flower from April 9th, and end flower on April 26th in Zhengzhou region. Flowering period lasts for 18 days. It can be grown at open sites in gardens, parks, and tourist orchards. Potted plants can flower during the Spring Festival without cold-treatment in the north of the Yellow River.

  Key silvicultural techniques:
For potted plants, 1-2 sprays of 15% Paclobutrazol (diluted to 200 times) on leaf surfaces in July are needed to ensure sufficient number of flowers. To make the plants flower during the Spring Festival, a period of 800 hours of cooling is needed prior to warming up in glass house. If the cooling requirement cannot be met, a pre-cooling treatment in cold storage is needed. To warm up in glasshouse, the temperature should be kept at 2-25 ℃ during daytime and 5-8 ℃ during nighttime, and the humidity kept at about 60%. Cares should be taken to keep the plants warm and protect from freezing or cold damage during the transportation of plants during the period of small flower buds.

  Suitable areas for planting:
When grown at open sites, due to the need for 800 hours of cooling, the plants are suitable for gardens, parks, roadsides, recreational farms in regions north to Hengyang, Hunan province. When grown in controlled conditions for flowering during Spring Festival, they are suitable for regions in the north of Yellow River. When potted, it is recommended to be grown in suburbs of large and medium cities.

Type of material: Variety

Category of certification: Certified

Registration number: Guo S-SV-ZJ-015-2010

  Variety characteristics:
Moderate tree vigor and half-open form. Fruits are pointed at both ends in shape, similar to olive fruit, with an average individual fruit weight of about 10 g, red pericarp and smooth surface. Peak period of fruiting starts from the fourth year, producing 8-12 kg per plant. Containing 21.9% soluble solids, titratable acid content 0.14%, edible rate of 97.5%, Vc content of 223 mg/100 g. Key silvicultural techniques:
The variety is suitable for dense plantings in open field and in facilities. For dense field plantings trees planted in rows of North-south direction with an appropriate spacing of 1.5-2 × 2-3 m, the spacing can be larger in good fertility and irrigation conditions. Pruning is mainly done in growing seasons by topping. Fertilizer applied to supplement nutrition in early and mid stages of the growing season that consumes more nutrients. Basal fertilizers applied after fruit harvest. Green lygus lucorum MeyerDur is the main pest for control. When grown indoors, glasshouse should be closed to keep warm in early December; Appropriate spacing is 0.8-1.5 m × 1.5-3.0 m; Tree form should be kept in spindle shape or small cylindrical-type with no main stem, or Y-shaped open form; Branches are cut in short to develop backbone braches, thinning of braches should be reduced. Organic fertilizers and potassium in later period should be increased to improve quality; Bark-cutting or application of hormones should be carried out to promote fruit setting during flowering period. Pollination trees are not needed; Fruits can mature 20-30 days earlier.
